Rasmus Bjerg and Zaki Youssef in new road movie on foot in the Norwegian fjell
Nordisk Film Spring’s upcoming comedy MEN OF THE WILD, directed by Thomas Daneskov, will be cinematically released on March 11, 2021.
Nordisk Film invites you to a good laugh, action and lots of heart in the company of Rasmus Bjerg and Zaki Youssef, who will star in the upcoming Danish movie MEN OF THE WILD, by the directing talent Thomas Daneskov, which he has co-written with the prize-winning author Morten Pape. The film is expected for cinematic release across the country on March 11, 2021.
MEN OF THE WILD has just begun principal photography in the Norwegian fjell and is a thrilling Danish comedy about modern men, who has emotionally lost touch with themselves – a road movie on foot in the Norwegian fjell.
In MEN OF THE WILD, Martin has run off from it all. To Norway. To live in nature and hunt for food himself. Like a real wild man. But when the cannabis smuggler, Musa, appears out of nowhere near Martin’s camp – bleeding and injured after a car accident – Martin’s self-actualization project is turned upside down. Soon, the odd couple is on the run through the rough fjells, with the Norwegian police, Musa’s rivals and Martin’s unknowing wife at their heels.
With Rasmus Bjerg and Zaki Youssef, Nordisk Film Spring has ensured themselves the oddest couple in Danish film for years. Rasmus Bjerg plays the modern man, Martin, trying to detach from the civilized world and find his true self in the Norwegian fjell. Among Rasmus Bjerg’s latest achievements we find his critically acclaimed and prize-winning performance as John Mogensen in Ole Bornedal’s The Way to Mandalay. Musa is portrayed by Zaki Youssef, who achieved his debut as a starring role in Ulaa Salim’s widely discussed political thriller Sons of Denmark, and he has recently acquired the role of Assad in the fifth instalment of the Department Q-films, The Marco Effect.
Around the odd couple we find Sofie Gråbøl as Martin’s worried wife Anne, along with Marco Ilsø and the comical talent Jonas Bergen Rahmanzadeh as Musa’s rivals from Denmark. Finally, the film gets a shot of Norwegian colors by Bjørn Sundquist as the experienced police officer Øyvind.
YOUNG PRIZE-WINNERS BEHIND THE CAMERA
MEN OF THE WILD is directed by Thomas Daneskov, who cleared out the Ekko Shortlist Awards in 2014 with his short film Ud, spring over, ind and received the New Talent Grand Prix for The Elite at CPH PIX in 2015. Since then, he has created the mockumentary-series Joe Tech and now embarks on his biggest cinematic film to date.
Thomas Daneskov has co-written the film with Morten Pape, who has been unconditionally praised for his Amager-stories – the autobiographical ‘Planen’ and ‘Guds bedste børn’, which received respectively Bogforum’s debut-prize and the DR novel-prize. Apart from being a prize-winning novel-writer, Pape is a graduate from the alternative film school ‘Super16’. MEN OF THE WILD marks his feature film debut.
The film is produced by Nordisk Film Spring by producer Lina Flint, who has previously worked with Thomas Daneskov on The Elite and Joe Tech. She also produced last year’s prize-winning and critically acclaimed audience success The Guilty starring Jakob Cedergren.
